First Week of the Season

The first games for the Fall 2009 Season of Cobra Kai have been played. Cobra Kai played 2 games so far and split, starting their inaugural season at .500.

Cobra Kai started off slow, but showed some of that gritty attitude and fight to come back.

Manager, Jason Resnick, was asked after the first night how he felt about the team. “This is a really great team, I see a lot of winning with this bunch of guys. I don’t see why we couldn’t take the league right now.” This young team was put together by players from other leagues and looks to be a strong contender this year. They started the first game with Team Synergy silencing Kai’s bats and in a 8-1 hole. Then in the 4th, they woke up by putting a 6 spot on the board to bring it within 1 run. Scoring 2 more in the next inning, put them a head by 1. Then the bats became silent again in the last 2 innings and wound up losing the game 11 – 9.

Resnick stated “I love the come back pop of these guys, we came close this time, next game we’ll get them.” That is exactly what they did. They poured on the runs and were flirting with the “Mercy Rule” all game. Cobra Kai went out in front in the second inning and stayed there until the end with a 16 – 1 win. With the stellar pitching by Joe Varlack, shutting Team Synergy down; the two catalysts of the team, Jim Bouschor and Morgan Rothblat, driving in a total of 7 RBI between them, highlighted by a 3-run HR by Bouschor; and OF Steve Ruhs continuing his quiet onslaught of hitting. Cobra Kai looks to be a force to reckon with.
